Sweet Red Bean Paste Onigiri (Rice Ball)

Here’s my lunch for today ^-^ Early morning i already cooked one pot of red bean paste to make these onigiri or we called japan rice balls. Many health benefit that we can get from red beans, like red beans are production for red blood cells and green beans or mung beans are for detox. Personally i prefer green beans and always use them to cook traditional dessert soup but today try something new. It’s a healthy and low fat recipe, suitable for vegan as well =)

这是我今天的午餐^ – ^一大早我已经煮好了一锅红豆泥馅料搭配米饭做onigiri或称日式饭团。我们可以从红豆里摄取到很多营养好处,像红豆可以制造血细胞而绿豆可以排毒。我个人比较喜欢绿豆总是将绿豆煮成传统式的绿豆糖水,但今天尝试新的东西。这是一个健康,低脂肪的食谱,适合素食主义者=)

Steps/步骤:-

Prepare 150 grams of red bean with 300 ml of water and soak overnight. ( 6 – 8 hrs)
准备150克的红豆和300毫升的水浸泡隔夜(6-8小时)

Next day, pour out the water and rinse the red beans. Then pour in the water and make sure the water lever cover above red beans.Turn to high heat, when the water boiling, pour out the water and refill again then turn to medium heat to cook (repeat 2 times) . The 3rd times, don’t fill up too much water (just above the beans), and turn the heat to medium low , keep it simmering until red beans become soft . When water evaporate , you need to add water to cover just above the beans (the beans will breaks when add too much water) For this step, you will be cooking for 1 hr ++ So, be patient =)

第二天,将浸泡的水倒掉把红豆洗一洗。然后倒入水,确保水位盖过红豆即可。开高火,当水沸腾时,将锅里的水倒出来再装入适量的水再以中火煮(重复2次)。第3次,不要填满了太多的水(盖满红豆即可),把火候转至小火,继续焖煮直到红豆变软。当水蒸发时加适量的水至覆盖红豆(加入太多的水,红豆容易爆开)这步骤,你需要大约1小时以上的时间以底火焖煮。 所以,需要耐心哦 =)

Pick one red bean and squeeze it with your fingers. If it is squashed easily, means it’s done.
挑起一颗红豆和用手指挤压。如果是容易压扁,就已经完成了。

When the water evaporate almost dry, turn up the heat to high and add in 3 tablespoons of brown sugar in 3 separate times. Stir constantly.
当水蒸发至快干时,把火候开大然后分3次加入3汤匙的黑糖,不断的搅拌。

Last, pour the smooth and soft red beans paste into a big bowl and cool down. We completed the red beans paste =)
随后,将煮好的顺滑红豆泥倒入大碗里冷却。红豆陷的部分我们已经完成了=)

Scoop some amount of brown rice,topped with red bean paste
取一些糙米饭,放上适量的红豆陷

Then wrap with plastic wrap and form it into ball shape or whatever shape you prefer.
然后,用保鲜膜将饭团包起形成圆球状或任何你喜欢的形状。

Use a knife to smooth the red bean paste on the top of rice ball.
用刀子把饭团上的红豆陷抹顺滑即可。

Sprinkle some green tea powder and white sesame. Done !
撒上一些绿茶粉和白芝麻。完成!
